There is something special in store for experienced ski tourers: the Nockberge-Trail is probably one of the most popular ski tours in Carinthia. Leading from the Katschberg to Bad Kleinkirchheim in four daily stages, this is the way to experience the untouched winter landscape of the Biosphere Park on a different level. The multi-day tour leads through the Carinthian ski resorts of Katschberg, Innerkrems, Turracher Höhe and Bad Kleinkirchheim. The tour is only possible in this direction, from Katschberg to Bad Kleinkirchheim.

Starting in St. Oswald, this tour leads to the Mallnock either via secluded forest trails or – when the ski season has come to an end - via the slope. On the outskirts of the ski area you reach one of the Carinthian Nockberge Mountains‘ most panoramic peaks, from where you have wonderful views of the Southern Alps. In good conditions, you can head east from the Mallnock to the so-called “Soldatenkreuz”, before following picturesque slopes down to the Falkertschutzhaus, then back to St. Oswald via the toboggan run.

From St. Oswald the road leads you to the Falkerthaus and the Lärchenhütte, which you pass, walking along the Hundsfeldgraben until you reach the tree line. Here you will have a fantastic view of the snow-covered landscape. You continue on the glistening, open pasture to the Steinnock, then follow the same route back to your starting point. A delightful ski tour, with the fresh air and magnificent winter scenery guaranteeing rosy cheeks and smiles. Experience your very own Sunshine Moment!

The starting point of this ski tour is the Innerkrems toll station, right by the Nockalmstraße. From here you head to the Nockalmhof, then continue along summer hiking trail 121 via the Bärengrube to the Peitlernock. Frozen mountain streams, ancient larches and gnarly pines await you along the way. This tour is ideal for beginners, and the wide northern slope promises a varied descent. Please respect the winter rest zone to the south of the Peitlernock and all the way up to the Hohe Pressing. Equipment tip: suitable touring skis can be rented from the sports shops in St. Oswald, Bad Kleinkirchheim and Innerkrems.

This guided tour begins with the ascent of the slope in front of Gasthof Hinteregger in St. Oswald, following the hiking trail signs to the Schafalpe. After 1.5 to 2 hours, you reach the Biosphärenparkbahn Brunnach mountain station. Descent is possible either via the slope or along the ascent trail.

Ski tours can be planned individually. You are welcome to bring your own equipment, but may also hire skis, shoes, poles and skins for € 50 per day. Those joining the taster ski tour can hire the equipment for € 40 per day.
